Whether you are an athlete looking for recovery, are trying to open up your sinuses and hydrate your skin, or are merely seeking an opportunity to relax, a bath is one of the best ways to help the body and mind recover. One of the most effective ways to enhance the relaxation of your bath experience is to utilize a bath pillow. With a number of brands to choose from, such as the Everlasting Comfort bath pillow, you can easily make your bath more comfortable, and even easier on your posture.

While products like bath pillows are wonderful additions, poor cleaning and hygiene habits can turn something good into something that may cause skin irritation, and even illness. For this reason, caring for your bath pillow is a critical part of ownership. Here are four tips for caring for your bath pillow.

1. Clean Immediately, and Regularly

Anything that is being exposed to a wet environment, skin oils, dirt, and soaps or scents has the potential for bacterial growth, especially mildew. What may begin as a comfortable and skin safe bath pillow can quickly become riddled with bacteria and mold that can make your bath far more dangerous than relaxing.

For this reason, it is crucial that you regularly clean your bath pillow. The best time to clean it is immediately after you bath. Not only is this the best time to get ahead of bacterial growth, but it is the time when it is easiest to clean. Simply rinsing the pillow under running water (such as your shower) for a brief period should help remove any oils, etc. that are clinging to the coating. If you notice any stains, lightly scrub your pillow as well.

More you let your pillow sit after your bath, rather than washing it immediately, you are more likely to allow the production of long term stains, and insight the growth of bacterias and molds. further if you have sensitive skin especially, it is even worth it to wash your pillow before you utilize it, as well as after. This makes sure that your pillow is not only in good shape, but does not become a health hazard.

2. Air Dry Outside the Bathroom

Just as important as cleaning your pillow is your drying process. As we have already mentioned, one of the biggest concerns with any bathing appliance is mold. If you rinse your pills off and leave it in your bath, you are leaving it to dry in an isolated damp climate. Especially if the bath you just took was warm and created steam.

Because of this, you want to air dry your pillow outside your bathroom, or to hang it up in your bathroom with a window open or fan running. Additionally, it is healthy to store your pillow in a place that is not hyper moist, To make sure you don’t risk the growth of any mold that may irritate your skin or have negative effects on your health.

3. Wash Gently

Taking care of your bath pillow should not be a process that damages it. If you notice any stains, or stains forming on your bath pillow, you may need to gently scrub or treat your pillow. Whether you are using a pillow with a vinyl coating, or an alternative, it is imperative that you do not damage the coating or lining. Don’t use an aggressive scrub brush, or a highly acidic soap while cleaning your pillow, and allow the process to occur gently and over time. It may be a little bit annoying at first, but you don’t want to ruin your product.

If you have serious dirt and grime, utilize a soap that is friendly on skin to clean your pillow. You can let it soak for a period if need be to help lift the stains, or you can focus on lightly scrubbing it with a cloth or even a toothbrush. Being mindful of how you clean and care for your bath pillow will help it not only last longer, but will help you make sure that you don’t do anything that may harm your skin.

4. Keep it in the Bath

Use your bath pillow for its intended use—your bathtub. Avoid bringing your bath pillow to places like lakes, rivers, or public pools. All of these places are swarming with foreign bacterias that can linger and develop on your bath pillow, and can cause for your at home experiences to be ones that are not of cleanliness.

If you keep your bath pillow at home, utilize it how it is supposed to be used, and regularly clean and care for it, you will be able to confidently utilize your relaxation product without any fear of irritation or bacterial growth.
