What To Take to a Donation Center When Spring Cleaning

Spring is a great season to clean up your house and declutter after a cold winter. You can sell or donate all the unwanted belongings in your home. Making an auto donation, or just donating your clothes and household items to a worthy cause can give you a sense of satisfaction. Here is everything you can take to a donation center after spring cleaning:

Computers

If you have a pile of slightly old but functioning computers, you can take them to a donation center. Giving these products to people in need can change their lives.

Make sure to wipe your computer’s hard drive and remove any personal information stored on your computer. Save any files that you do not wish to erase before making your donation.

Cell Phones

Gather all your functioning but unused phones during your cleaning and donate them. This helps to serve others who may not be able to afford full-priced phones. They can also be recycled or resold to support a good cause in the community.

Before making your auto donation, confirm the phone will still work. Delete all your data on the phone and leave it clean for the next user.

Books

During spring cleaning, donate books you’ve already read or are not planning to read. If you’ve switched to an e-reader and no longer read paperback books, feel free to donate your books to those who will still enjoy them.

Before donating books, make sure they are in good condition. They could have a few folded pages but should not be stained beyond recognition or have any missing pages.

Shoes

Whenever you want to downsize your shoe collection, you can take unused shoes to a donation center. Donate shoes that are still in good condition without a large number of scuffs or holes.

Dishes

Donate your excess bowls, spoons, mugs, and other utensils to donation centers. When cleaning your home, remove all your dishes from the cupboard and only put back the items you use regularly. Take anything you fail to return to the cupboard to a donation center. The money from donated dishes can be used in community programs to empower and help people in need.

Clothing

You should donate clothes that do not fit or that you rarely wear. Check your closet for unworn clothes, put them in a box or bag, and take them to donation centers. Make sure your clothes are in good condition and don’t have lots of tears or holes. Donate any clothing you have not worn in the past six months or do not plan to wear in the near future.

Auto Donations

You can donate your cars and motorcycles to create more space in your garage. Vehicles take up a large amount of space that can be better used elsewhere. Make sure your car is in good condition and you have the title and other important documents. Clean the interiors and exteriors before taking the car to the donation center.

Car donations are sold, and the money can be used to support community programs and non-profit organizations.

Home Decor

If you plan to remodel or redecorate your home after doing your spring cleaning, donate any unused home decor pieces. You can donate souvenirs, wall hangings, artificial plants, and trinkets. When decorating your children’s room, check all the decor pieces they’ve outgrown and take them to donation centers.

Toys

Unwanted or unused toys can occupy ample space in your house. During spring cleaning, pack all the toys your children do not use and take them to the nearest donation center.

Kitchen Appliances

When cleaning, identify kitchen appliances you no longer use and give them to donation centers. Appliances such as air fryers, microwaves, and fridges can benefit community programs.

Clean your kitchen appliance and gather all add-ons and cords. Ensure that there are no missing parts when giving the appliances away. Confirm it is working before delivering it to the donation center.

Make Your Donations Today

Donating your toys, clothes, and electronics can be a great way to declutter after spring cleaning. Your auto donation are also appreciated and distributed to the needy or used to support community programs. Donation centers sell your contributions and use the money to support various programs and services that can benefit your community.
