5 TELLTALE SIGNS THAT YOU NEED A NEW MATTRESS

When you are having trouble sleeping, your mattress might not be the first thing that occurs to you. However, your body might be able to tell before your eyes whether it’s time to change your mattress. There are numerous evaluations when deciding whether to replace a mattress, and here are five warning flags to watch out for if your sleep isn’t as restful as it once was.

Visible wear marks

It’s time to buy a new mattress when the old one begins to show symptoms of wear. Wear can occur in the following ways:

  • Sagging
  • Visible tears, holes, and ripping
  • Stains
  • Any other damage

You should not dismiss the following additional indications of mattress damage:

  • Clumpy or substantial indentations
  • Springs that are pocking you
  • Shifting foam
  • Feeling the bed’s foundation when pressed

Having sore mornings

You probably need a new mattress if you consistently experience new aches and pains upon waking. Your neck, shoulders, lower back, and hips may experience pain if you sleep on an old mattress, and this occurs because your mattress is no longer providing the necessary support.

Your mattress’s ability to support your spine’s natural curve is compromised when it starts to lose its shape. As you sleep, this causes additional stress on other regions of your body. ‌Your mattress will gradually lose its integrity. This means that particular parts of your body may feel stiff or sore. You might not be able to get away with simply blaming your mattress. However, it can be the first indication that you need to look for a new one.

It’s More than 8 Years Old

The life expectancy of various mattresses varies. The longest-lasting bed, which can endure between 12 and 15 years, is a waterbed. The typical lifespan of a foam bed, whether it be latex or gel, is 10 to 15 years. Additionally, an innerspring mattress has a lifespan of about eight years.

Depending on the use, king single mattresses in a box can last eight to ten years. Proper care and maintenance are essential for a mattress’s lifespan. ‌ A decent mattress is an investment because it will last longer and is healthy for your body. Replacing your mattress every six to eight years is advisable.

Your asthma or allergies have gotten worse.

Your mattress can cause your worsening allergies if allergy season has passed. Respiratory issues that dust mite feces cause might lead to allergies and asthma attacks.

Your old mattress can have more than just dust mites. It may be home to the following:

  • Feces from dust mites
  • Mold \Bacteria
  • Other allergens

Difficulty falling asleep

The last indication that your mattress needs a replacement is difficulty falling asleep. Your mattress may be the source of your inability to sleep, even if you are unaware of the pain or have just come to terms with it. One method to find out is to spend one night in a different bed. If your sleep improves noticeably, it’s a good idea to look for a new mattress.
