INTRODUCTION:
Lakaglacier trip via Triund can be done in a few hours. Trekking to Laka Glacier takes only 13 km and is suitable for beginners. It is located at 10,600 feet. You can also visit the beautiful Kangra valley or the Dhauladhar mountains. This long trail winds through oak and rhododendron forests. Enjoy the stars and spend the night by the bonfire. Laka Glacier is a short trek of 3-4 days and is well-known for Camping and Trekking.
This trek can be done all year. This trek via Triund is best done between March and June. The glacier’s total volume is covered in white snow from March through June. The Laka glacier is not covered in snow during the post-monsoon season. However, you can still experience Morain. Winter temperatures can hover around 14 to 19 degrees Celsius. It can drop to between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius at night. Summer temperatures hover around 16-25 degrees celsius. It can drop to 9-10 degrees celsius at night. The Norbulingka Monastery is located near Mcleodganj. This is a wonderful place to visit. You can also visit the Dalai Lama Complex, which is a peaceful and beautiful place.
Day No. 1
Mcleodganj To Triund Trek:
This is the perfect weekend trip from Delhi. This trek is easy to do as it has a gentle gradient. Dharamkot is the base of the Triund trek. This is a small village located 2 km from Triund. The rich Tibetan culture can be seen at the top. The Post monsoon period offers a great view of the magnificent mountain peaks.
Day 2
Triund To Laka Glacier
After having breakfast, you will start your trek towards the Laka glacier. The Lahesh cave can be spotted on the trail. It is only 2 km from Laka Glacier to Triund top. Overnight camping can be done under the Lahesh cave to enjoy the bonfire. Enjoy the stunning beauty of the Laka glacier once you have arrived. Here are some stunning photos. Day 3
Trek Back to Mcleodganj:
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the mountains. You won’t forget this event because it was so memorable. Next, descend to Mcleodganj.
How to get there:
Mcleodganj, which is approximately 500 km from Delhi, is the base of this trek. It is approximately 250 km from Chandigarh Mcleodganj. You can either take an overnight Volvo bus or an ac Volvo bus once you arrive in Delhi. Mcleodganj is also accessible by train. You can also travel via Pathankot, which takes six to seven hours to get to Mcleodganj.
Fly:
The closest airport to Mcleodganj is Dharamshala Kangra or Dajjal. It is located 20 km from Mcleodganj. It takes just 3 hours to fly from Delhi to Mcleodganj.
By train:
It is not possible to travel by train from Delhi to Mcleodganj. Mcleodganj’s nearest railway station is Pathankot. The station is located 90 km from Mcleodganj. You can hire/book a taxi from Pathankot to get to Mcleodganj.
Things you should have
- First aid and medicines: Medicines are the most important ingredient. So, pack some medicines (Combiflam for Fever + Reduce Muscle Pain, Zintac/Aciloc/Rantac/ Omez for Acidity, ORS sachets for dehydration) and a first aid kit with you. Band-aid, pain relief spray
- Dry foods: Take some dry food with you. This will make it easier to eat with a spoon and a coffee cup.
- Water bottles: You can take 2 liters of water with you when you go trekking.
- Plastic Bags: Carry a few plastic bags with you to pack your clothes and shoes. But don’t forget to use a dustbin.
- Cap, hat, and sunglasses: High-altitude regions can be harsher on you and your skin. You should bring sunglasses and a cap.
- Good hand gloves: Make sure you have good gloves. You will be able to use waterproof and windproof hand gloves.
- Toothpaste, A Toothbrush. Towel. Lip balm. Moisturizer.
