Basic information about Tripropylene glycol diacrylate

Tripropylene glycol diacrylate is a common acrylic derivative monomer. It can be used as a crosslinking agent in light curing or radiation curing, which can reduce the radiation dose; when used as a reactive diluent, it can significantly reduce the viscosity of the resin system.

Basic Information:

Tripropylene glycol diacrylate (TPGDA Monomer), TPGDA, 2-acrylic acid-(1-methyl-1,2-ethylene) bis(β-methoxyethyl) ester, with the characteristics of typical acrylates , the common state is liquid , UV light or electron beam irradiation can initiate its polymerization reaction to generate a cured polymer material, which is very suitable for applications in the coating (especially coating film) and printing industries.

Nature:

Low odor type colorless or slightly yellow transparent liquid,

Insoluble in water, soluble in aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, and has good solubility for most acrylated prepolymers.

  • Viscosity: 10-20CPS (25℃)
  • Density: 1.030g/cm 3 (25℃)

Chemical properties: easy to polymerize, often add polymerization inhibitors such as hydroquinone monomethyl ether (MEHQ) to inhibit its polymerization during storage.

Resolve resolution:

It belongs to propylene oxide-acrylic acid derivatives, and the specific routes are as follows:

  • Propylene oxide + 1,2-Propanediol –> Tripropylene glycol
  • Tripropylene glycol+ acrylic acid –>Tripropylene glycol diacrylate

Use:

When used as a crosslinking agent in light curing or radiation curing , it can reduce the radiation dose; when used as a reactive diluent , it can significantly reduce the viscosity of the resin system. In acrylate emulsion system products, it can replace hydroxymethyl dienamide as crosslinking agent, which has the characteristics of excellent crosslinking effect, less dosage and convenient use.

Preparation:

Preparation steps are as follows:

(1) get tripropylene glycol (TPG) 44wt%, acrylic acid 37.4wt%, methanesulfonic acid catalyst 2.2wt% %, hydroquinone 560ppm, hypophosphorous acid 0.23wt%, cyclohexane 16wt%; put into the reaction kettle to mix and stir, open the air, open the steam valve to heat slowly, control the steam pressure at about 0.5Mpa, and heat up to 70-80 in 1 hour ℃, and kept for 30 minutes, the control vapor pressure is 0.5Mpa, the reaction temperature is 80-91 ℃, the reaction is 14-16 hours, the reaction is finished, the sampling is sent for inspection, and the esterification acid value is about 20-50mgKOH/g.

(2) After the esterification reaction, the material is pumped into an adsorption tower with 40wt% macroporous adsorption resin, 40wt% ion exchange resin and 20wt% active molecular sieve, and the flow rate is controlled to make the material slowly pass through the exchange adsorption resin for deacidification treatment. ; The temperature is controlled at 20-60 °C, the acid value is detected to be ≤5mgKOH/g, and the adsorption is terminated;

(3) Turn on the vacuum unit, keep the vacuum degree above -0.09Mpa, control the temperature of the material at 60-90 °C, remove the solvent, and cool it. Get product.
