Fashion-paid factories below

A survey of 1,000 manufacturers found that despite rising material costs, many were being paid the same wages as before the pandemic two years ago.

The £2.30 per day minimum custom playboy hoodie wage in Bangladesh was cited as a problem by one in five respondents.

The study was conducted by the Business School at Aberdeen University and the justice advocacy group Transform Trade.

The investigation included the time frame of March 2020 to December 2021.

90% of the major high-street brands that purchased from four or more manufacturers were found to have unfair purchasing practices, according to the study.

The consequences of these actions, which included forced overtime and harassment, included cancellations, nonpayment, payment delays, and discount demands.

The allegations in the article were refuted by a number of retailers.

The project was directed by Muhammad Azizul Islam, a professor of sustainability accounting and transparency at Aberdeen University.

Two years after the pandemic began, he claimed that Bangladeshi garment workers were not being paid enough to support themselves, with one in five producers finding it difficult to pay the minimum wage while many fashion companies that employ Bangladeshi labor saw an increase in earnings.

The report, according to Fiona Gooch of Transform Trade, is “a wake-up call.”

She stated to the BBC: “Workers suffer when shops mistreat suppliers by violating previously agreed-upon terms.

“If a retailer doesn’t pay on time or delays payments, the supplier must find alternative ways to reduce expenses, which are typically passed on to their employees, who are the weakest link in the supply chain.

“Like the current supermarket watchdog, we need a fashion watchdog to oversee UK clothing retailers.”

In July of last year, a parliamentary bill on the fashion supply chain was introduced with backing from all parties.

Several senators, including the future chairman of the Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, were among Ms. Walters’ amours. She and Roger Ailes, the head of Fox News, went on a few dates and stayed close friends for a very long period. When she defended another friend, director Woody Allen, in 2014 after his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow accused him of sexually abusing her as a youngster, she sparked a backlash.

Being in positions of authority also exposed Ms. Walters to inquiries regarding her close contacts with sources.
