The Professional World of Music Coming Across the Obstacles

When working in the music industry, it is crucial to have a thick skin to be able to deal with the endless challenges that will come your way.

No matter what role you take, be that a musician, agent, promoter, or manager, (or even if you make personalized musical gifts) everyone will have to deal with their own number of setbacks. The trick here, however, is that you learn how to prepare yourself for the worst and be ready to save yourself in the face of disappointment. This is the only way you will be able to move forward and push yourself towards your dreams.

Plus, looking into the life examples of professionals existing before you can serve as a great example for you to learn from. Consider the work done by Mark Siegel who is known for his roles in the music industry as a renowned American songwriter, producer, musician, and founder of Static Flight Music Group.

Most of his work has been featured in several film and television placements and has gained more than 500 million streams.

Some of his notable work includes working alongside famous artists such as singer/songwriter and social media sensation, Jacob Whitesides. They have been seen working together and appearing in many shows and different magazines – they include The Today Show, Rolling Stone Magazine, Live With Kelly, Good Morning America, and many more.

He worked as a musician for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s film ‘Father Stu’ and his unique composition work led to his high demand in the entertainment sector. He has already been reached out by major names in the industry such as Netflix, Universal Pictures, Hulu, and Lionsgate.

Throughout his own music career, Siegel has met many young aspiring musicians who have had to deal with common types of challenges – and here are some ways he realised that could help counter them.

Less Funds

Lavish lifestyles are far from what you would expect in the life of an artist. If you want to be a professional, forget about having an extremely lavish lifestyle and instead focus on getting your work out there even if you do not have the best clothes or social circle because in the end, they will all come back to you.

Lack of Responses For Music Demos

If you have not gotten a response to your music demos, do not get upset. With some time and consideration, they will come back to you. You can, however, improve your chances of getting a sure response by pursuing the press coverage of all your shows. Staying on top of your social media presence is important, and also make sure that your promo packages are updated.

Not Enough Turnout

It can be pretty disheartening to play in an empty room, especially when starting out. There can be a number of reasons why that is happening, but that still does not mean that you can force people to come to your show. But what really helps in the future is if you make sure to let the existing people know that you appreciate them for supporting you and giving you this opportunity so that you will be allowed to come back later to the place, with hopefully more guests this time.
