By Bus: 

From Delhi to Haridwar & Rishikesh, bus services are provided by both public and private transportation. By Train: 

You can reserve a seat on a train from Delhi to Haridwar, preferably a night train so you can get a full night’s sleep before a lengthy drive the next day. From Delhi to Haridwar, train tickets cost as little as INR 400* for a sleeper bed and as much as INR 2500* for AC class seating. 

By Air: 

A fast flight of just one hour connects Delhi with Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. The cost of one-way air travel from Delhi to Dehradun is approximately INR 2400*. From Dehradun to Rishikesh, you can take a bus, a taxi, or both to begin the arduous journey to Kedarnath.

By Bike/Car: 

There aren’t any detours for two-wheelers, hence the distance from Delhi to Kedarnath by bike stays the same. Sonprayag is the final stop for parking, so regardless of whether you’re self-driving, using a driver, renting a bike or car from Delhi or Dehradun, or driving your vehicle, you can get there quickly. You can take a hired cab, shared vehicle, or bus from Sonprayag to Gaurikund, where another 18 KM of hiking to Kedarnath awaits.

To get to Kedarnath, you can arrange a seat in a helicopter. To go to Kedarnath, you can take a helicopter from Dehradun, Haridwar, or Rishikesh. 

From Dehradun, travel to the Sahastradhara Helipad. The helicopter will fly you to your destination in 40 minutes. 

If you want to fly to Kedarnath from Rishikesh/Haridwar: Take a taxi from Rishikesh/Haridwar to Phata, which is around 200 kilometers and 195 km from the two cities, respectively.

The 18 km journey to Kedarnath begins in Gaurikund and ends in Kedarnath. The 14 km trek to Kedarnath has increased to a 16 km trek as a result of the 2013 Uttarakhand flood disaster.

The Kedarnath Helipad offers helicopter service to Phata and other helipads, as well.

Things to Bear in Mind Before the Kedarnath Trek

  • Before beginning the trek to Kedarnath, get checked out.
  • It is not recommended for people with respiratory conditions or high blood pressure to hike to Kedarnath
  • Make sure to make a reservation in advance at the Gaurikund/Sonprayag booking counter if you intend to travel via Kandi, Ponies, or Palki.
  • Since this is the only time pilgrims are permitted to trek to Kedarnath, do so between 4:00 AM and 11:30 PM.
  • You can use Palki or Ponies to get to your destination if you won’t be able to finish the trek until late in the day. You can also spend a night in the camps that are set up between the treks at Lincholi, Bheem Bali, and Jungle Chatti.
