Stop Wobbly Tables in Your Restaurant

by Steven Brown

There’s nothing worse than a wobbly table when you’re trying to enjoy a meal at your restaurant. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it undermines the customer experience. Whether your restaurant has indoor or outdoor seating, make sure that all of your tables are stable and secure for customers. Here are some tips for how to stop wobbly tables in your restaurant:

1. Use table levellers. These are small, adjustable parts that can be attached to the legs of a table to stabilise it and make it even with the floor. Table levellers also come in handy if your floors aren’t perfectly level, as they can compensate for any unevenness. With nylon feet from the right supplier, you can easily stop wobbly tables and create a better dining experience for your customers.

2. Check for loose screws. Sometimes tables become wobbly because of loose screws or other hardware that holds the table together. Make sure to regularly inspect all of your tables and tighten any screws that have come loose over time.

3. Add anti-skid feet or pads. If you find that your tables are still wobbling even after you have used table levellers and tightened all of the screws, try adding anti-skid feet or pads to the legs of your tables; this will help to reduce any instability or sliding of your table when it is being used.

4. Replace damaged parts. If the legs or other components of your table are damaged, it is important to replace them as soon as possible. Damaged furniture not only looks unsightly, but it can also be unsafe for customers. Investing in high-quality furniture components, such as table legs or table tops, will help ensure that your tables remain stable and secure for years to come.

5. Clean regularly. Finally, make sure to keep your tables clean at all times. Food and drink, dust, and dirt can accumulate over time, making the surface slippery and contributing to a wobbly table. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning solution to wipe down the surface of your tables regularly, so that customers can enjoy their meals without fear of problems.

By following these simple steps, you can easily prevent and stop wobbly tables in your restaurant. A few simple preventative measures and regular maintenance will help to ensure that your tables stay secure and steady for years to come. Not only will this help to keep your customers safe and comfortable, but it will also give them peace of mind knowing that their meal will be served on a stable and secure surface (the least every customer deserves!).

The Proactive Approach

When running a restaurant, it’s easy to be reactive and wait for a problem to arise before fixing it. In the case of wobbly tables, preventative measures should be taken from day one. When buying new tables, make sure that they’re built with sturdy legs and frames that will support them effectively. If you’re unable to purchase new tables, consider giving existing tables a makeover with new legs or additional supports to ensure they stay stable.

Rather than staying in the kitchen, be objective in the dining hall and imagine what your customers experience. Look for any tables that appear to be moving or shaking; this is an indicator that something needs to be done. If a table appears unstable, take the time to fix it right away.

As well as fixing tables, part of your objective tour should be to observe the entire layout of your restaurant. Are there any tables that are too close together or placed on an uneven surface? Be sure to adjust the seating and layout of your restaurant, ensuring tables are stable and far enough apart from each other!
