The success of Arizona’s CPSC backlog reduction program is directly related to its extensive backlog reduction efforts. Arizona devoted considerable resources and overtime to reduce its backlog, including the hiring of new staff and the strategic allocation of resources to each regional office. The second-highest priority was given to reports dated more than 18 months.
Unfortunately, a lack of supervision in homes where parents are intoxicated makes children particularly vulnerable to harm. Young children can be harmed by an unresponsive parent or even by an overdosed parent. These children are also more likely to develop unhealthy coping mechanisms as a result of this trauma. Children exposed to substance abuse often experience trauma, such as witnessing their parent unresponsive or convulsing due to an overdose. Intoxicated parents have trouble caring for themselves and mistreat their children, and these children suffer.
Fingerprinting requirements expanded for anyone who provides services to juveniles and vulnerable adults
In order to provide these services to the most vulnerable of society, you must be fingerprinted before you can begin. This means anyone who is involved in the treatment, education, and care of youth, including child care workers, shelters, and social workers. Currently, federal law requires fingerprinting for all employees who work with vulnerable adults and juveniles. But, the state has expanded the requirements, and it doesn’t stop there.
A new foster care program was established for young adults
While the proposed program is a welcome step, some states are not taking any measures to address their foster care system’s shortcomings. For instance, the lack of legally required placement packets is one of the most troubling aspects. Nevertheless, Steele’s bipartisan support for the bill is important.
Accountability calls
The team continually monitors performance metrics, including the number of overdue reports. During its weekly accountability calls with the deputy director of operations, Arizona will take action if the overdue report percentage exceeds a certain target.
